Heart Truth Red Dress Fall 2011 Review

HAIR AND MAKEUP: Bobbi Brown for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics (makeup), Sabrina Michaels for Bumble and Bumble (hair), and Pattie Yankee for Dashing Diva (nails)

OVERALL TAKEAWAY: High energy and hope

FRONT ROW: Matthew McConaughey, Susan Sarandon, Bill Rancic, Lisa Rinna, Kat DeLuna, Nigel Barker, Miss J Alexander, Jay Manuel, Johnny Weir, and Carson Kressley

Since 2003, the Red Dress Collection has been the unofficial kickoff to Fall Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. As the centerpiece event of the Heart Truth Campaign, which raises awareness of the risk of heart disease in women, the annual show brings together a mix of entertainment insiders, TV personalities, actresses, singers, and more.

Littered with New Jersey Housewives and flocks of ladies decked in their best bright-red cocktail attire, Lincoln Center was complete mayhem gearing up for this year's show.

A bevy of ladies swanned down the runway in red, kicked off by Dancing with the Stars's Julianne Hough, who wore an embellished one-shoulder Swarovski gown (the only custom piece in the show). The Hills star Audrina Patridge attempted an uncomfortable shuffle down the runway in a skintight (clearly too tight) Badgley Mischka number while 30 Rock's Katrina Bowden was all legs in a short Oscar de la Renta belted minidress.

In a curve-hugging Zac Posen design, Dita von Teese rocked her famous hourglass, which was even more comic-book curvy in person. When FashionEtc asked how she felt on stage, von Teese shrugged and gave her signature sultry smirk, "Fun!"

NBC News anchor Ann Curry walked the runway in a one-shoulder Carmen Marc Valvo gown. After the show, she told us, "Backstage they told me to try and do something sexy, so while I was walking I kept trying to do a sexy move or something, and I was imagining everyone in the audience going, 'Is that seriously all you got?'"

Fashion Doll Free Dress Up Game Review

Fashion Games is a site dedicated entirely to fashion games, so I don't mind admitting that I had pretty high hopes when I played their top fashion game, Fashion Doll. Unfortunately, I was bitterly disappointed and would have cried salty tears of despair, had I not already known that existing dress up games are actually better and that I could go and play them whenever I wanted.

I know I rather panned Addicting Dressup, but if Fashion Doll and Addicting Dress up got into a fight, Addicting Dress up would totally wipe the floor with Fashion Doll – and look good doing it.

The first problem I encountered with Fashion Doll is that she is already dressed. Whilst I applaud her modesty – it is rather difficult to play dress ups with a doll that insists on wearing a suit the whole time. At best, it feels rather redundant, at worst it is a metaphor for the futility of so many of life's endeavors.
I discovered shortly after whining about this that you can actually remove Fashion Doll's suit, but still, the initial damage had been done.

Secondly, a point that I should really have mentioned in Addicting Dressup (this review is rather becoming a secondary review for Addicting Dressup, which just goes to show the dire affair that is Fashion Doll,) is that Addicting Dress up allows you to create your own models from the ground up. Male or female, you can determine things like faces and hair and even the name. Fashion Doll, on the other hand, is just that, a single, lifeless fashion doll.

I also rather got the impression that Fashion Doll's clothing had been designed in either the 1950's or North Korea, or possibly both. There's a cloying traditional theme to the garments you're allowed to choose, although, to give them their due, they are all photo realistic, unlike the hand drawn excuses for garments you'll find in other games.

I have to say though that the small selection of garments and accessories available in this game made me yearn for the many options available in, you guessed it, Addicting Dressup, which has actually made a fairly solid effort to include trendy items in its wardrobe.

Cross Training Shoes Reviews

First thing that one needs to know is that cross training shoes are totally different than running shoes. Hence, you cannot wear your best pair of running or walking shoes for cross training exercises like core boarding, aerobics, step aerobics and kick boxing. Knowing the same fact, there is a whole different range of cross training shoes of various leading footwear and sportswear brands. However, one also needs to be pretty specific while selecting the best pair of cross training shoes for yourself. The best criteria for judging the best shoes is the kind of cross training exercise that you want to perform. Here are the cross training shoes reviews for you to select the best cross training shoes.

Best Cross Training Shoes Reviews

Before going through the reviews of cross training shoes, one needs to understand the special characteristics of cross training shoes. Best cross training shoes should have shock proof insoles made of rubber, plastic or closed cell nitrogen injected materials, that can return the amount of energy that you generate while exercising. The outsoles of the shoes should be multipurpose, stabilized for tougher exercises and with good lateral support, while the upper body and midsole of the cross training shoes should come with moderate to low cushioning, near forefeet and heels. You should also opt for shoes that are lightweight.

Fashion Face-off: Paloma Faith vs Marina Diamandis

Before we get caught up in the excitement of Milan Fashion Week and the Oscars (keep reading ladies we’ve got a series coming up), we thought we’d add a little bit of competition to the day.
After spotting Marina Diamandis out and about at London Fashion Week, her headbands, kooky fashion and high high shoes reminded us of someone else’s funky style. If you haven’t already guessed, it’s of course Paloma Faiths’.
The pair, which turned up to a few events together have clearly been sharing style tips, with Marina beginning to don those eccentric headpieces Paloma is so famous for.
However, she also has her own style opting for cute playsuits over Paloma’s contrasting baggy trousers. That said, they are both fans of very different fashion. Marina was spotted out and about in a jumper with knitted teddies at the shoulders, while Paloma looked hot in a floral suit.
But who do you think is the most kooky? View the gallery above and then vote below to let us know.

Spring 2011 Fashion Colour Trends For Accessories And Jewellery

A continuing trend that drives designer's choices in terms of fashion colours is the consumers' appetite for escapism. People in the market for fashionable clothes, designer jewellery and interior furnishings want to be distracted from the pressure and even the monotony of their everyday lives. Whether subconsciously or not, consumers increasingly go for more adventurous and striking choices when purchasing items that colour their world.
With this in mind, the latest industry predictions for Spring 2011 show that colour designers have opted for colours that come from the opposite sides of the colour wheel, they have achieved a striking and vivid palette. The end result is that whilst we will still be able to choose traditional colours for clothes and accessories, there will definitely be some added spice and visual interest sparked by the new crowd.
Please note that the titles used for the colours referred to in this article are the specific names given in the Pantone colour range.
First off, Coral Rose. This is orange, but deepened to add a more classy and sophisticated tone. Similarly, Beeswax hints at distant places with a honeyed yellow tone. Both of these combine very effectively with a colder tone such as Regatta, a mid blue, creating a visual boost to your wardrobe. Another option for the more classic and romantically inclined would be Lavender, which is an eponymous shade that benefits from a little hint of red underneath. Coral Rose or Beeswax will work very well with either Regatta or Lavender.
Blue Curacao continues to satisfy the fans who locked on so loyally to the hugely successful Turquoise - which was, of course, 2010 Colour of the Year. Blue Curacao brings the tropical feel of the Caribbean into play and also works well with Coral Rose or Beeswax. The clean, crisp lines of contemporary designer jewellery will suit this colour grouping well, preferably with turquoise detailing.
Peapod is a fresh green and yellow combination with a very natural and organic feel, a great choice for Spring with its theme of rebirth and new beginnings.
Spanning the seasons are, as ever, the neutral colours that ensure a stable canvas for all the other colours to play on. They have been dubbed the 'nude hues' and exude a natural, honest vibe that makes one instantly relaxed and calm. Silver Peony is the most neutral, supported by Russet, a much deeper tone, as well as Silver Cloud - a light, muted grey. The brown bronzes and silvers found in quality freshwater pearl jewellery is clearly going to be in perfect harmony with them, too - making them a real essential in your jewellery wardrobe.
